If you wish to create new habits or have one (or many) you'd like to leave behind, notice when "it" comes up or could be practiced
-observing sensations that arise- then shift or "do" immediately.
New practice(s) that one would like to pursue, pick it up and begin right away! And become consistent, even on the days you don't really want to. It may take a little extra convincing, but more often than not, one will be glad they kept to it.
Remember everyday gifted is an opportunity to create new.
If you fall out of practice or have a slight misstep, that's OK. Re-evaluate what happened, pick up where you left off but maybe maneuver differently on the next time around.
Avoid rushing off to what comes next; meal, job, activity.. And fend off the urge to compare to what once was, what could be or what another may have (it could always be better and it could always be worse).
Begin and remain focused on the moment. Stay with the task currently at hand; "When walking, walk. When eating, eat." - Zen proverb
Notice whenever the mind
wanders away and without judging where its gone, notice that it has left and guide it back. "There goes another one..."
If this becomes to be troublesome allow your breath to become your guide back to the present moment.
Follow it in and follow it out.
Slowly breathe in for 2, 3 or 4 count. Pause
Slowly breathe out for 2, 3, or 4+ count. Pause
Repeat as often as needed.
Every individual is uniquely different, which is absolutely beautiful. However, what may work well for one, may not for another. It's best to explore food that is in its most natural form; leafy greens, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes, beans, vegetables, grains. Avoid heavily processed/engineered food and animal byproducts as often as possible.
Set a schedule with meals or intuitively eat, maybe try on both and see what works best for you!
Be honest with yourself. You are the only one who knows the truth behind actions.
Approach a change in consumption patterns as a lifestyle-shift,
rather than a "diet"-mindset.
Begin with small steps or take a large leap.
Have faith in yourself and allow some time to see change come about.
